Mary Catherine McDonald, of Huntsville, AL, entered into Eternal Rest on January 7th. She was born October 29th, 1917 in Dixie, AL to John Glover and Minnie Hutto Lambeth.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Joseph McDonald and her parents.
She is survived by her son, John Thomas McDonald and his wife Suzanne McDonald, granddaughter, Jessica Miller, grandson John Thomas McDonald Jr. and great-granddaughter, Emily Austin Miller. She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth Howell of Huntsville, AL.
Catherine was a resident of Milton, FL during her childhood, and was a longtime resident of Pass Christian, MS and Huntsville, AL. Catherine was a teacher at Pass Christian Elementary for many years, and was voted Teacher of the Year. She was designated a 50 year member of Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Women's Teacher's Sorority in 2009; Catherine was a member in both MS and AL, serving as a chaplain in AL. She delighted the Fidelis Alpha chapter with initiating Mardi Gras themed meetings, with each table representing a different Krewe. She was an active member of VFW in Pass Christian for many years. She was a fine cook, renowned for such dishes as shrimp gumbo, deviled crab, and her shrimp dip, which was in frequent demand at Pass weddings. A graduate of the Alabama Polytechnic Institute, now known as Auburn University, she was known to be an avid supporter of both the institution and the Auburn Tigers football team. She was an active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in the Pass for many years and served faithfully as a Lector in the Sunday services. She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2010, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln Delisle Road, Pass Christian, where friends may visit from 12:30-1:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
