Mary Holden

August 22, 1963 — April 28, 2017

Mary "Mary Ann" Elizabeth Holden, born August 22, 1963, passed away on April 28, 2017 at her home. Mary was known for her warm heart and outgoing personality. She had many friends from every walk of life and saw beyond the clothes that someone wore, the job they held, and the color of their skin. She befriended the homeless, human and animal. She built a community around her on Facebook and in her life. She put on a smile every morning and faced the challenge of the day to the best of her ability.
Mary was human and therefore complicated. She faced great adversity with courage and she made her share of great mistakes along the way. She was smart, and creative, and spoke out when she saw injustice. She worked as a bookkeeper in Gulfport and in Nashville. She performed in the Vagina Monologues and was active in support of the Nashville Sexual Assault Center where one of her poems graces the lobby.
Mary lived on the MS. Gulf Coast for most of her life, attended school in Gulfport and lived in Pass Christian. She is survived by her daughters, Megan Cromwell, Meredith Cromwell, and Mary Kathryn Cromwell and by grandchildren, Gabriel Fales, Mia McGarrity, Xander McGarrity, and Mayzleigh Cromwell. Her siblings are Josie Holden Bulla, Rick Corder, Robin Corder and Ron & Beth Corder; Step-mom Diane Holden lives near the coast. Her parents, Dorothy Joan (JoAnn) Holden and James D. (Don) Holden predeceased her.
A memorial service will be held at the gazebo at Westside Park in Gulfport, 8th Street and 41st Avenue, on Friday May 5, 2017 at 11:00AM. All of Mary's friends and family are welcome and encouraged to come. RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport is serving the family.
