Mary L. Martino Loyzelle, 84, of Ocean Springs, died Saturday July 11, 2020.

Mrs. Loyzelle is preceded in death by her husband, of 24 years, Charles E Loyzelle, retired military, U.S. Navy;  her  parents, Mr. & Mrs. Anthony J Martino, Sr.; eight sisters, Lena Myers, Lucy Lyons, Claire Shankland, Althea Burkle, Lillie Rose Seymour, Margaret Seymour, Ruth Hooper; and six brothers, Anthony , George, Ralph, Arnold, Joseph, and Eugene Martino; and brother in-law,  Thomas Loyzelle.

She is survived by a brother, Donald Martino; and a sister, Lillian Jordan; a sister in-law, Sue Loyzelle; and niece Karen (Dean) McKirryher, both from Rutland, Vermont; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Loyzelle graduated from St. Martin High School in 1956. She was the 15th of 16 siblings and was caregiver for her mom. After her mom passed away, she was employed at the Old Biloxi Hospital where she met her soon to be husband, Charlie. They moved to Vermont, traveled and eventually moved back to Biloxi.

Mrs. Loyzelle’s niece, Gilda Seymour took over her care in 2016, then in 2019, two more nieces, Lydia Pickard and Cathy Cole came on board to help. She transferred from the Gardens after  5 years to the Lighthouse Senior Living facility in June. She brought her Bingo skills to the Lighthouse and continued to be the Queen of the arts and crafts.

Mary took her Bingo games very seriously, so you better not get in her way when it was time for Bingo. She was an avid Saints fan and loved Drew Brees. She had an entire wardrobe of Saints t-shirts and memorabilia. She watched football, basketball and baseball and all the old movies. She was a kid at heart and enjoyed Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s day and dressed for every holiday.  She loved going to parades, eating out, and Cruisin’ the Coast. She had many musical stuffed toys that sang and danced, which she got a big laugh from.  She never complained about her health, although she was on Oxygen 24/7 for many years. In her eyes, the glass was always full, never empty. “In the past 5 years, we all had a lot of fun, because Aunt Mary was a lot of fun”.

Special thanks to Notre Dame Hospice, and the wonderful staff at the Lighthouse Senior Living and Memory Care, the staff at the Gardens, and her sitters throughout the years. Also, thanks to Charlotte Martino Parker, her niece, for all those yummy chocolate cakes.
