Mary Lowman passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010, in Gulfport, MS. Mary passed away exactly 25 years to the date she lost her beloved husband, Raymond Lowman.
She was born July 29, 1930 in Troy, Alabama and lived her adult life with her husband and children in Amarillo, TX and Biloxi, MS.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Lowman; parents, James and Margaret Talbot; and a sister, Margaret Krooz.
Mary is survived by her five daughters, Mrs. Charlotte (Don) Powell, of Lafayette, LA, Mrs. Gail (Bobby) Soles, of Spanish Fort, AL, Mrs. Jody (John) Touart, of Gulfport, MS, Mrs. Clara (Jerry) Byrd, of Mount Olive, MS, and Mrs. Becky (Eddie) McDaniel, of Gulfport, MS. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Steve Powell, Wesley Powell, Andrew Soles, Jet Touart, Heather Byrd, Jessica Byrd, Samantha McDaniel, Jennifer McDaniel; and four great-grandchildren, Colton Powell, Brooke Powell, Madison Powell, and Emily Powell. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Sarah Lawrence, of Eufaula, AL; a brother, Ret. Col. Bailey M. Talbot, IV, of Hampton, VA; her lifelong friend, Dot Ellis; and her beloved pet, Molly.
After raising her five daughters, Mary earned her BS Degree in Special Education from USM. She taught school in the Gulfport School District at Pass Road Elementary and Central Elementary for 15 years, before she retired in 1995. Mary was an active member of Beauvoir United Methodist Church, where she served on numerous committees.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her name to Beauvoir United Methodist Church, 2113 Pass Road, Biloxi, MS 39531.
Friends are invited to visit at Beauvoir United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 13, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
