Mary J. Lowder of Gulfport Mississippi passed away May 14, 2011 in Gulfport surrounded by family at the age of 77.
She was born January 5, 1934 in Morehouse, MO and dedicated her life and career to being a caregiver to others.
Mary was the matriarch of her family. She was the rock that did what had to be done even when it would seem that she wouldn't be strong enough to endure it. She quickly picked up the pieces and built back her home of over 20 years after losing it in a hurricane in 2005 all while taking care of her ill husband, maintaining a part time job, and never missing a family get together. She spent her entire life giving to others, both of human and animal kind. She would take in any animal in need that stepped within her reach. She will be sadly missed by all of those whose lives she has touched.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years Gary Lowder, father Claude McNabb, mother Thelma (McNabb) Wheeler, two sisters (Darlene Henderson & WillaDean Salazar), and two brothers (Don and Bob McDonald).
She was survived by two daughters, Connie (Arthur) Kuhagen of Long Beach and Janie Link (Johnnie Wilson) of Biloxi; one sister, Delorse (Leon) Pruitt, two brothers, Bill (Joyce) McDonald and Jackie (Debbie) Kirby; sister in law Barbara McDonald; seven grandchildren, Sabrina Kuhagen, Falon Kuhagen, Krystal Kuhagen, Steven (Renee) Link, Chris (Sherry) Link, Victoria Baker, and Tracy Gathers; 12 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; and two very special cats (squakers & bow), and a dear friend Edith Maurterer.
Arrangements by RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport.
