SMSgt. Mary Margarette Kennedy U. S. Air Force, Retired, a native of Morgan County, Alabama and long-time resident of the Gulf Coast, passed away on August 5, 2021 in Ocean Springs, MS at the age of 81.
Mary was a member of the 403d Airlift Wing, and the 920th Reconnaissance Group, and long-time member of the Air Force Reserve at Keesler Air Force Base. She loved her country, and served it with pride.
She loved to read, working crossword puzzles and in her younger days was an avid golfer. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas M. Kennedy; her parents, Curtis and Cleo Blankenship; and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Ann Smith.
Mary is survived by her loving children, Sandy Waltman, Jessica Kennedy, and Maria Thrift (David); her siblings, Ruth Ann Black, Michael Blankenship (Judy), Sammy Blankenship (Sara), and Jack Blankenship; her grandchildren, Samantha Anderson, (Kindeth), Emily Waltman, Matthew Thrift, and Patrick Thrift; three great grandchildren, Kindeth Anderson IV., Sophia Anderson, and Jace Anderson; numerous relatives and dear friends.
Mary loved and was loved deeply. She will be terribly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the caring staff of Ocean Springs Hospital and Hospice of Light for the love, compassion and care given to our Mother in her final days.
A private family viewing was held on Saturday, August 7, 2021, and A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be announced on the Riemann Family Funeral Home Site.
