Mary Margaret Johnston, age 82, of Bay St. Louis, passed away on February 24, 2014, in Bay St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George Wallace and Agnes Mary Adam Johnston, 5 brothers, Edmond George, John Henry, Lloyd Joseph, Huey Paul, and Ronald Anthony, and a sister, Anne Marie Johnston.
She is survived by her companion and friend of 45 years, Jessie M. Sisk, and her numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
Mary Margaret was a native of Bay St. Louis and was a graduate of Bay High and later earned a B.A. in Sociology from the Univ. of New Orleans. She was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Church and was a map maker for Hancock County's tax office as a young woman.
She enjoyed painting, horses, photography, and traveling. She discovered an interest in the Lapidary Arts and became a member of Harrison County Gem and Mineral Society. She was an active member for many years and after Katrina, she was the driving force in keeping the Harrison County Society going on the coast. Besides being a member of the Harrison County Society, she was also a member of the Pearl River Rock Club in Pearl River County, MS, and the Gem and Mineral Society in Waco, TX. Margaret was an avid rock hunter.
Her spunk and spirit will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
