Mary Fortner Holmes, age 92, passed away on March 9, 2009 in Laurel, MS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Holmes; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.M. Fortner; two brothers, T. Marvin Fortner and Henry T. Fortner; a sister, Estelle Wilkes; and a nephew, Richard Fortner.
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Ms. Joan Murphy of Vincent, AL; a brother, William D. Fortner and his wife, Lola, of Laurel, MS; a sister in law, Rita Y. Fortner; her nieces, Linda Koury of Gulfport, Betty Wilkes Malley and her husband, Jerry, of Pass Christian, Missy Sanderson and her husband, Bill, of Laurel, MS, and Nell Fortner of Auburn, AL; her nephews, William P. Wilkes, Jr and his wife, Dorothy, of Batesville, MS, Douglas Fortner of Houston, TX, Thomas Fortner and his wife, Marian, of Phoenix, AZ; and many great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Holmes was a lifelong resident of Gulfport and for the past three years had been a resident of Comfort Care Nursing Home in Laurel, MS. She was retired from Commercial Credit (CITI). She was a former member of the Great Southern Country Club and a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, Gulfport.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport where family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM until service time. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport.
