Mary """"Mannie"""" Annie Hatem, age 87, of Long Beach, died Tuesday, February 26, 2008 in Gulfport.
Mrs. Hatem was born on Leap year, February 29, 1920 and was a resident of Long Beach most of her life. She worked at St. Thomas School Cafeteria for more than 30 years and was a devout member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. Her favorite past time was seek and find puzzles and her most exciting adventure in her later years was her first plane ride back from Georgia, where she resided 3 1/2 months following Hurricane Katrina, with her nephew and niece, Gary and Lynn Allen
Her greatest love was spending time with the children at St. Thomas School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Agnes Hatem; a sister, Agnes Allen; brothers: Joseph """"Joe"""" Hatem, Edward """"Ed"""" Hatem, and Philip """"Phil"""" Hatem; a nephew, James """"Jimmy"""" Allen, and a niece, Frances Jarrett and Lottera Allen.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews: Harold ALlen, Philip Allen, Robert Allen, Gary Allen, Louis Allen, Ronnie ALlen, Mary Peterson, Mickey Hatem, Pete Hatem, Helen Lizana, Pat Head, Maggie Ladner, Phyllis Seal, Margaret Necaise, Eddie Hatem, Jimmy Hatem, Jerry Nell Wilson, and Cathy Houston; many great and great-great nieces and nephews especially Joey Peterson.
Visitation will be Friday, February 29, 2008 from 6 - 8 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Saturday at St. Thomas Catholic Church. A procession will leave the funeral home chapel at 10:45 a.m. to the Church.
Interment will be in Long Beach City Cemetery.
