Mary Virginia (Jennie) Gaddy, age 80, of Gulfport, died peacefully at home on Thursday, January 24th, 2008.
Mrs. Gaddy was born on October 11th, 1927 in Hattiesburg, but lived most of her life in Gulfport. She was a nurse, receiving her nursing degree from Touro Infirmary and working at Charity Hospital, both in New Orleans.
Mrs. Gaddy was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford Curtis Smith and Mittie Lee Smith of Hattiesburg; her husband, Ira E. Gaddy, Jr.; and a daughter, Catherine Jane Gaddy.
Mrs. Gaddy is survived by her sons, Gene Gaddy and his wife, Sonja, of Gulfport; Jerry Gaddy of Gulfport; and Jody Gaddy and his wife, Laura, of The Woodlands, Texas; her sister Catherine Sands and her husband, John, of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren, Ira E. Gaddy IV, of New Orleans, Cliff Gaddy, Janie Gaddy and Jacob Gaddy, of Gulfport, and Molly Gaddy and Mary Claire Gaddy of The Woodlands, TX; and her beloved dog Precious.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, until her illness. Jennie loved nothing more than being around her family and preparing great meals for them, especially during the holidays. She always had a wonderful smile, genuinely cared for her friends and family and will be greatly missed.
Friends are invited to join the Gaddy family for visitation from 12 Noon until 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 26, 2008 at THE RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi.
