Mary Carpenter, age 59, resident of Gulfport, passed away on Friday, June 18, 2010, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Carpenter was born in Manhatten, NY and spent most of her life in New Orleans and the MS Gulf Coast. She graduated from Warren Easton High School in New Orleans and the University of Southern MS with a B.S. degree and Masters degree in education. She taught 2nd and 3rd grade at Bel-Aire Elementary in Gulfport for 9 years. Among her hobbies were scrapbooking and Bingo. Her four grandchildren were her world, and she will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Edith Farmer of New Orleans.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Carpenter of Gulfport; sons, David Aaron Carpenter of Gulfport, and Andrew Kahlil Carpenter of Gulfport; brother, Alvin Farmer, Jr. of New Orleans; 4 grandchildren, Gavin, Destiny, Andrew, and Blace.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 21, 2010, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, at 6:30 p.m., where friends may visit one hour prior.
