Mary Lucas Blaylock, age 89, of Gulfport, died Friday, January 9, 2009.
Mrs. Blaylock was a native of Clarke County and had been a resident of Gulfport for the past 65 years. She was a member of Long Beach Church of Christ. She was an avid reader, quilter and gardener and will be fondly remembered as a devoted mother and an exceptional grandmother. She had a unique relationship with each of her grandchildren.
Mrs. Blaylock was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt L. Blaylock; two grandchildren, Christopher Ray and Cindy Gieger; and by her 9 siblings.
Survivors include her 4 children, Sarah Derfuss (Jerry) of Panama City, FL, James Gieger (Melba) of Holcomb, MS, Sandra Smith (Richard) of Gulfport, and Shelia Meadows (Curtis) of Quitman, MS; 14 grandchildren, Curtis L. Meadows, Elson W. Meadows, Joshua Meadows, Mary Jean Rash, Amy Ligon, Richard L. Smith, Jr., Gia Gary, Bran-Dee Senn, Sandy Ray Runyon, Timothy Ray, Eric Ray, Randy Gieger, Beth Grilley and Jenny Gieger; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport, where friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Evergreen Gardens Cemetery.
