Mary Bates

Mary B. Bates, 91, died January 28, 2011, in Santa Rosa, California.
Mary was born to Clara and John Barksdale in Hattiesburg, MS, on September 14, 1919, and attended high school there. As the wife of a Methodist minister, she lived in Mt. Olive, Pascagoula, Jackson, Crystal Springs and McComb, MS. She was always active in local and state church organizations. She also lived in Columbus and Biloxi, MS, and moved to Santa Rosa, CA, in 1998.
Mary was a gracious lady who enjoyed travelling and reading. She was deeply loved by her friends and family. Mary was devoted to her family, friends, and church and her loving spirit was an inspiration to everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Rev. Eugene W. Ulmer and J. Marshall Bates, and sisters Johnnie McManus and Elaine Williamson.
Survivors include her son David E. Ulmer and his wife, Jana of Sebastopol, CA; four grandchildren: Deidre Ulmer, Lisa Mink, David Ulmer, Jr., and Melissa Ulmer.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 12, 2011, at the Southern Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 2076 Beach Boulevard Biloxi, MS. Arrangements by RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Beauvoir Road, Biloxi.
