Mr. Martin H. Sharp, age 78, resident of Gulfport, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2008, in Gulfport.
Mr. Sharp was born in Covington, LA to the late Martin and Grace Fitzgerald Sharp. He served in the United States Air Force, retiring after 22 years. He later served the state of Mississippi at the MS Air National Guard, Combat Readiness Training Center in Gulfport, retiring after 20 years. He enjoyed spending time at his fish camp, where he spent many days with family fishing, skiing, and having quality family time.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mildred Jenkins and Dorcas Nettles.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Christiane Sharp of Gulfport; children, Kirk Sharp and his wife Donna of Long Beach, Cecil Sharp and his wife Patti of Augusta, GA, and Cy Sharp of Houston, TX; siblings, Frank Sharp, Marie King, Joyce Slatter, and Evelyn Gaddis, and Louise Beaver; grandchildren, Kristin, Claire, Brian, Emily, Madeleine, and Cameron.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2008, at Handsboro United Methodist Church, Gulfport, at 10:00 a.m., where friends may visit one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery, where Mr. Sharp will receive full military honors provided by the United States Air Force.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Handsboro United Methodist Church, 2333 Demaret Drive, Gulfport, MS 39507.
