Martha Nell Portwood

Martha Nell Allen Helms Portwood, age 68, of Gulfport, passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021.

Mrs. Portwood was born in Germany to a military family.  She spent her career as a consultant in the Apartment leasing industry.  She was fun-loving and strong-willed!  She enjoyed horseback riding, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was also a member of Fernwood Baptist Church where she was very involved.  You may have seen Mrs. Portwood on the road if you noticed her cartag, “Gotcha”.  She had two chihuahuas named Georgie and Jasper whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper David Allen and Ernese Mattie Alford Allen; and her daughter, Julie Helms Littleton.

She is survived by her husband, Robert D. “Bobby” Portwood, III; children, Jennifer Helms Coker and Rob Portwood; brother, Larey Allen; grandchildren, Deven Soto, Savannah Coker, Kaylee Littleton, Christopher Portwood, and Matthew Portwood; and great grandson, Jonah Soto.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, from 9:00-10:00 am.  Services will follow in the chapel at 10:00 am.  Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
