Marthan ""Mert"" C. Sizemore, age 82 and a resident of Gulfport, died on Sunday, January 13, 2013, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Sizemore had been a resident of Gulfport for 56 years and a member of St. John Catholic Church where she was active in the Altar Society. She was employed as an executive secretary with the Diamondhead Corporation in the early 1980's.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lycanda Council; her mother, Marguerite Kadow Weeks; her husband, Charles S. Sizemore, Jr. and her brother, Winston Council.
Mrs. Sizemore is survived by her daughters, Ann Sizemore and Cindy Hendon both of Long Beach; her grandchildren, Michael (Jill) Hendon and Laura (Matt) Dykes all of Ocean Springs and her great grandchildren, Noah Michael Hendon, Elyse Jillian Hendon, and Addison Adrian Dykes all of Ocean Springs.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. John Catholic Church, 2414 17th Street, Gulfport, MS 39501. The family would also like to extend a very special thank you to Mrs. Sizemore's caregivers, Ruby, Donna, Kathie, Mandy, and Terri; the staff of Odyssey Hospice and to Dr. David Larosa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, is assisting the family with arrangements.
