Martha Carol Rickman

Martha Carol Rickman passed November 29, 2022 following four years of colon cancer.  She held her faith, and she awaits the second coming.

Born just before Christmas in Takoma Park, MD, her family selected the name Carol to reflect the joy of her song.  After college and working as the System Administrator at a credit union, she met Dave, and the adventure began.  They made a life of gardening, loving each other, fishing, and joy for our blessings.

Carol moved to Biloxi in 1991, and she and Dave built a house where she could watch the birds, turtles, butterflies, and all that God gave us.  Her two sons, Mark and James, had Batten Disease, and Carol shifted to being a fulltime caretaker.

Carol was the family’s knowledge source for gardening and Gulf Coast birds.  She kept a detailed garden journal to track seed selection, and vegetable and flower production.  Her back porch gave her the platform to watch the resident and migrating birds.  Feathers and fauna shared with friends and family.

Carol is survived by her husband, Dave, and a surviving brother David in Florida.  She leaves nieces and nephew from her sister and brothers, and extended cousins.  She was so proud to have made a home where family and friends wanted to come and spend time.

Carol was honored as a caring woman; she requested people remember her through charity.

Carol’s service will be held at 11:00am on Friday, December 16, 2022, at the Gulf Coast Seventh-day Adventist Church, 13301 Shriners Boulevard, Biloxi, MS 39532.  Visitation will be 9:00 to 11:00am at the church prior to the service.
