Martha Pecoul Sinopoli, age 82, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Martha was born on October 25, 1936, in Mississippi City (now a part of Gulfport) and was a lifelong resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She was affectionately known by her grandchildren as "Momee." Martha was a devoted grandmother, a natural caregiver and nurturer. Martha loved her family, cooking, and sewing. As a devout Catholic, Martha was a lifelong member of Saint James Catholic Church where she served as a member of the Altar Society and had a faithful devotion to the Adoration Chapel. She attended the University of Southern Mississippi and was an active member of the Kappa Delta Sorority.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ferdinand and Eldora Pecoul; her sisters, Lucy Dessommes and Betsy Taylor; her brothers, Monroe Cliburn, Ferdinand Pecoul, Jr., and Louis Joseph "JoJo" Pecoul; her daughter, Debra Marie Sinopoli; and her great-grandson, Jeremy Kirby.
Martha is survived by her husband, Raymond Sinopoli; daughters Patricia Sinopoli (Harold Maretto), Catherine (Norman) McGuire, and Angela (Bill) Langhart; grandchildren, Rev. Martha Kirby (Rev. Eddie Kirby), Cherry (Brian) Graves, Rayanne Wheat, Brett (Elizabeth) McGuire, Meghan (Brad) Owens, Catherine Langhart, and Will Langhart; great-grandchildren, Eddie, Moses, Chloe and Duke Kirby; Jackson, Eli, Bella Graves, and Breleigh Wheat; and her sister, Catherine (Wayne) Davis.
Momee will always be remembered as a kind, patient, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
The family would like to express appreciation to the staff at Seashore Highlands and her special caregivers, Tewanna and Tammy, and to the Staff of Notre Dame Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM, Friday, December 28, 2018, at Saint James Catholic Church, Gulfport, with a visitation for family and friends from 10:30 AM until the Mass. Burial will follow at the St. James Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Sunday Fund at Seashore Highlands Assisted Living Home, 12170 Highland Way, Gulfport, MS 39503 or to St. Vincent de Paul Society c/o of St. James Catholic Church, Gulfport.
