Martha F. Kassis, age 66, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, and walked into the arms of her savior on Wednesday, May 26, 2010.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George A. and Mary Ellen Kassis.
Miss Kassis was emloyed with Northrop's Departmet Store as a bookkeeper, Gulfport City Hall in payroll, St. John Elementary School as a kindergarten and fourth grade teacher, and Mississippi Power Company in accounts payable, where she retired in 1998.
Miss Kassis graduated from St. John High School. She receive her Elementary Education Certification, Secretarial Training Program, and BS degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Martha leaves behind countless friends and relatives, whom she cherished, and who were so special to her. She had a winning personality and loved to talk.
She is survived by her brothers, George Kassis of Gulfport and Abraham Kassis and his wife Julie, of Roswell GA; her nephews, Mark Kassis and his wife Mary; and two great-nieces, Katie and Kimberly Kassis, all of Mableton, GA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 31, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Gulfport, where family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at Evergreen Gardens, Gulfport. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with family following the grave service, at St. John Presentation Hall on 24th Avenue.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
