Mrs. Marjorie Sweeney Beck, age 80, resident of Biloxi, and formerly of New Orleans, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2009, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Beck was born in New Orleans to the late Don and Marjorie Poche Sweeney. She lived in New Orleans most of her life and relocated to Biloxi in 2005. She retired from sales and product development from River Road Spices. She had a passion for cooking and authored """"Tales from the Pantry,"""" a book of memoirs and recipes from her life experiences. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chet Beck; brother, Jerome Sweeney.
She is survived by cousin, Angele Dolhonde McLaughlin of Greer, SC; and Mary and Richard Tell of Biloxi, Cathy Polovich of Biloxi, the Metcalf families of Biloxi, Donna and Gabe Signorelli of New Orleans, Dolores and Lou Boudreaux of Simonton, TX, and Suzanne Hughson of Covington, LA, and many other friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Biloxi, at 10:30 a.m., where friends may visit one hour prior to Mass. Burial will follow at St. Patrick No. 1 Cemetery in New Orleans at 1:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 2090 Pass Road, Biloxi, MS 39531.
