Marius Loretta Ladner, 81, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014 in Gulfport.
Mrs. Ladner was a member of St. James Catholic Church for over fifty years. She organized and ran the St. James CafeÌ during the St. James Fall Festival for 12 years serving her renowned crabmeat po-boys.
Mrs. Ladner was the American Legion MS State Auxiliary Dept. President, 1983-1984 and held numerous offices with the American Legion Joe Graham Auxiliary Unit 119, VFW Auxiliary Post 2539 and DAV Auxiliary Chapter 5. Mrs. Ladner retired after 25 years as a Harrison County Veterans Service Officer. She also volunteered at the Gulfport VA Medical Center and at the Bethel Free Health Clinic.
She enjoyed embroidery and was teaching it to her great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ladner was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard V. Ladner and Marius C. Ladner of Clermont Harbor, MS, and her brothers, Leonard V. Ladner, Jr. of New Orleans, and Clyde A. Ladner & Peter A. Lestelle of Clermont Harbor.
Survivors include her children, Karen Ladner Demoran of Bay St. Louis, Donna Tasker of Gulfport, Bert Ladner of Gulfport and Alise Putnam (Mark) of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Steven Scott Ladner (Valorie) of Bay St. Louis, Dustin Wade Tasker of Binghamton, NY, Joey Putnam of Ocala, FL, Danielle Tasker Callegan (Steven) of Metairie, LA, Kelsi Ladner-Munns (Justin) of Long Beach and Calli G. Putnam of Orlando, FL; and her great-grandchildren, Genieve E. M. Bickett, Aurora R. Bickett, Dylan Munns, Kaeleigh Ladner, Lillian M. Afshar, Molly Callegan, Malakai Ladner and Kalina Munns.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2014 with visitation one hour prior at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. James Catholic Church Restoration Fund or Heroes on the Water, Navarre, FL chapter.
