Marion Louise Buffington Homes

Marion Buffington Homes died February 14, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, Mississippi after a brief illness at the age of 100. She was born in New Orleans on October 15, 1914 to Margaret Stein Buffington and Truman Jules Buffington. She married Robert Oliver Homes and lived in New Orleans until 1953 when they moved to Pass Christian, Mississippi.
Mrs. Homes is survived by her children and their spouses, Robert (Cassie) O. Homes Jr., Ann (Henry) Homes Neelis, Marion Homes Langdon and Martha Homes Chambers; her six grandchildren and their spouses, Robert (Julie) Homes III, William (Holly) Homes, Justin (Judy) Homes, Henry ""Trey"" (Megan) Neelis, Harriet (Greg) Neelis Landrieu and Robert (Kristin) Neelis; her two step grandchildren, Melissa (John) Cullum Platt and Christopher (Juliet) Cullum; and her fifteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Anna (Leo M.) Buffington Oppenheimer.
Until her death, Mrs. Homes was the oldest living member of the Pass Christian Yacht Club. She was an expert bridge player (who won several duplicate bridge tournaments well into her 90's). She worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers at Stennis and was retired from Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi. Besides her loving family, she had many wonderful friends and her family will always be grateful for their caring attitude and many kindnesses.
In lieu of the flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice in Mrs. Home's name.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul Catholic Church on Scenic Drive in Pass Christian. Burial will be in Live Oak Cemetery.
