Marilyn Ellen Skladzien

Marilyn was born at home in New Orleans to Beatrice and Earl Taylor. She was the second of three girls and the last surviving child  She was preceded in death by both her parents; her husband, Peter; her sisters, Beverly Guste and Audrey Taylor; her daughter, Suzanne and son-in-law, Terry.  She married Peter Laurence Skladzien at St. Louis Cathedral on February 14, 1953. She is survived by five children, Lorrie, Raye Ellen, Peter Jr., Mary Ann (Andrew), and Marilyn (Andrew). She has nine grandchildren, Dane, Kyle (Megan), Jennifer (Shane), Christopher, Suzanne, David, Alexandria, Elizabeth, and Theo; two great-grandchildren, Victor and Ayame, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

She spent her school years at St. Anthony and several years at Newcomb College. She pursued her dream of traveling and became an airline stewardess with C&S Airlines where from 1950-1953 she traveled to Jamaica, Cuba, and the southeast United States. She retired when she married and had six children.  he spent her motherhood years helping in the schools and being a Girl Scout leader for her girls, and a Cub Scout leader for her son and chaperone for numerous school trips.

She traveled extensively after the death of her husband and managed to see most of Europe during her visits to her daughter in Switzerland and parts of Australia when she went to visit her son down under. She traveled North America in her RV and managed to see most of the east coast. Her one regret was that she never managed to make it out to the West Coast.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, from 6:00 – 7:00 pm at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln DeLisle Road, Pass Christian, MS 39571. A second visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024, at St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 4640 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70119, starting at 1:30 pm, and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:15 pm.  Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
