Marilyn Myrle McGill Miller, age 69 of Long Beach, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her father, Tony Larkes McGill; her mother, Vera Muriel Cuevas McGill; her brothers, Waverly Roger McGill and Thomas Ray McGill; her sisters, Ellen Louise McGill Bass and JoAnn Elaine McGill Cunningham; and her brother-in-law, David Roland Bond.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, John Earl Miller, Sr.; her sons and their wives, John Earl Miller, Jr. (Mira Lona V. Alsagon Miller) and Steven Lee Miller (Mina K Whitmer Miller); and her grandsons, Lochlan James Miller and Finnian McCool Miller.
She was born in Gulfport, MS, on November 18, 1953, to Tony and Vera Muriel McGill. She graduated from Long Beach High School in 1971, then moved on to graduate from American Beauty College in 1972, where she practiced cosmetology for the next 17 years. She later worked as an insurance agent for Allstate and State Farm, finally retiring as a State Farm agent in 2007. On December 4, 1971, Marilyn married John Earl Miller, Sr., her high school sweetheart. On December 18, 1972 and April 6, 1975, John and Marilyn welcomed their two handsome sons, John Earl Miller, Jr. and Steven Lee Miller, the two most important things in their lives. She was a devoted wife of 51 years, and a mother to her children, grandchildren, and her adopted children.
Marilyn enjoyed being with her family hiking the mountains, doing crafts, boating, fishing, camping, gardening, bird watching, genealogy, and reading her bible. Not only did she love Jesus, she was a devoted Christian, and loved to be of service to her church. She was a long time member of Faith Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed working on the Youth Conference and with the “Widows and Widowers Ministry”. There is absolutely no one she did not love. She loved all of the kids and fed the neighborhood and sometimes what seemed like the entire town of Long Beach. She also loved to cook for large family gatherings.
It is with great heartache and sorrow that we say Mom passed away January 4, 2023 after a long and BRUTAL fight. But in this sorrow, please know that we are at peace and tears of joy that she is no longer suffering. May the LIGHT of her UNCONDITIONAL LOVE shine bright for ALL to see and feel. May the principles in which she lived know PEACE and SERENITY as she shared with all that knew her. May God grant us all acceptance and understanding in the days to come as we remember a woman of Utter LOVE and kindness, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, whatsoever you needed her to be, she was ALWAYS THERE. WE WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU, MAMA. MAY GOD’S LOVE AND LIGHT HEAL YOU AND MAKE YOUR SPIRIT AS BRIGHT AS THE HEAVENS FOR ALL OF US TO SEE AND FEEL.
AMEN
She will be deeply missed and loved by her friends and family and all who knew her.
