Marie Steube

February 22, 1930 — August 9, 2009

Marie Lois Cuevas Steube, age 79, of Pass Christian, passed to her heavenly home on August 9, 2009 at University Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama, due to complications from open heart surgery.
She was surrounded by close family members during her convalescence and unexpected death. Marie was a member of the Catholic faith at St. Stephens's Parish in Delisle. She adored Jesus Christ and our Blessed Mother, having previously participated in the Legion of Mary. She found great comfort in praying the Rosary.
Marie was born on February 22, 1930 to the late Claiborne and Hilda (Mikovilje) Cuevas.
John E. Steube, who was her husband of 39 years until his passing in 1992, and their stillborn son, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, John E. Steube, Jr and his wife, Julie, and their two children, John and Christina; Diane S. Ladner and her twin sons, Daron and Duon; Kathy S. Terrell and her husband, James, and their children, Michael, Meagan, and Katie, and a grandson, Trevor; and Karen A. Steube and her longtime dear friend, Hank Boudreaux; her siblings and their families, M.C. (Sonny) Cuevas, Jr and his wife, Eran; Gloria C. (Tutsie) Zambuto; Billy Cuevas and his wife, Loraine; and Ann C. Mixon and her husband, George. All family members lived near her on the Coast.
Marie had an extended family of cousins and close friends, and she will always be lovingly missed by all.
Since retiring from South Central Bell, she loved to cook for the enjoyment of sharing meals with loved ones, entertaining her grandchildren, boating and fishing, tending her flower gardens, cruising, and attending musical shows.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln Delisle Rd, Pass Christian where family and friends may visit from 9:00 AM until service time. Burial will follow at Rotten Bayou Cemetery.
