Marie Buzbee Gibson, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in Gulfport, MS. Marie was born on August 17, 1939, in Mobile, Alabama, to her loving parents Samuel Houston and Laura Naomi (nee Mattox) Buzbee.
Throughout her life, Marie found joy in simple pleasures. She was known for her exceptional cooking skills and delighted in preparing meals for her family. Her love for the outdoors was evident through activities like fishing, crabbing, and evening rides that brought her immense happiness.
Marie's proudest accomplishments revolved around her roles as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family meant everything to her, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Marie is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband of 63 years Thomas Gibson Sr.; and her parents Samuel and Laura. She is also greeted by her brothers, Winston, Lawrence, Ernest, James; sisters, Janette Dixon, Dot Lind, and Bobbie Jean Houston; as well as other departed loved ones.
Marie leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth cherished by her surviving family members: son, Thomas Gibson Jr.; daughter, Deborah (James) Travis; grandchildren, Jennifer Marie (Tim) Colson, James Victor Travis, Justin Gene (Seanti) Travis, Jeffrey Michael Travis, Kimberly (Paul) Farmer, and Cerina Gibson; and great-grandchildren, Shawn Campagne Jr, Caleb Campagne, Justin Gene Travis Jr, Presley Marie Travis, Emma Farmer, Ella Farmer, and Mason Farmer. She also leaves to mourn her sister, Helen Buzbee; brothers, Charles Buzbee , Ray (Pam) Buzbee; sister, Joyce (Kevin) Breaud; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Marie's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Biloxi National Cemetery, at 1:30 PM.
