Marie S. Gavin of Gulfport, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the age of 56.
Mrs. Gavin was a 1972 graduate of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Jefferson Davis Campus and a 1970 graduate of Gulfport East High School. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Gulfport, and the Mississippi National Guard Ladies Auxiliary. She was a supervisor at the Harrison County Department of Human Services where she retired. Her dedication to community service and helping others was evident in her work with the Harrison County Mental Retardation Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth and Cecil aÌ‚â‚Å“Dustyâ₝ Saucier.
Mrs. Gavin is survived by her loving husband of twenty years, Bob Gavin; two sisters, Elizabeth Cecile Saucier of Berkeley, CA, and Martha Saucier Allen of Gulfport, MS; one niece, Elizabeth Marie Allen of Gulfport, MS; stepchildren, Kelly Gavin and Paul (Nicole) Gavin of Galveston, TX; and seven grandchildren, Daniela Gavin, Regan Scheer, Vittorio Gavin, Avery Gavin, Aiden Gavin, Keegan Gavin and Isabelle Gavin all of Galveston, TX.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS where friends may call between 1-3 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Gardens, Pine Ridge Section, 28th Street, Gulfport, on Monday, June 1, 2009, at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org or First United Methodist church, 2301 15th. Street, Gulfport, MS 39501.
