Marian Kiser Sours, beloved educator and devoted family member, passed away on February 24, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi, at the age of 86. Born on July 18, 1938, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Marian’s life was marked by her unwavering spirit, passion for teaching, and a love for those around her.
Marian's career was a tapestry of meaningful contributions, as she enjoyed her time teaching at various schools, sharing knowledge and wisdom with her students. Her dedication to education was further enriched by her academic achievements, holding an associate's degree in Hotel Management and a Master's in Education. In addition to her role as an educator, Marian lent her talents to the hospitality industry as a general manager for Hilton Properties, where her leadership and warmth left a lasting impression.
Marian was more than her professional accomplishments; she was a vibrant soul who touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege to know her. Renowned for her radiant smile and remarkable character, she was well-liked by all. Her friends and family will remember her not just for her kindness, but also for her enthusiasm for life, which shone through in her many hobbies and interests. She cherished playing Bridge, knitting exquisite pieces, traveling to new destinations, and immersing herself in theater, where her collective experiences became a tapestry of cherished memories.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Caroline (John) Alexander, and her dear sister, Kaaren Armstrong. Marian now joins her late husband, Robert H. Sours (2020), along with her parents, Ralph Kiser and Hortense (nee Bridgers) Kiser, who welcomed her into their embrace.
Though her presence will be profoundly missed, Marian's legacy of love and dedication to education lingers on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she enriched.
