Maria Wilhelm, age 100, of Long Beach, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Wilhelm was a long time resident of Long Beach and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Long Beach. She graduated from Vicksburg Charity Hospital 1932 with a degree in nursing and she also graduated from the Grace Hospital School of Anesthesia in Detroit, MI in 1936. She worked as a CRNA in Danbury, CT, Passavant, West Penn, and Magee Hospitals in Pittsburgh, PA. After she married, she lived in Indiana, PA and did anesthesia from 1943 - 1970 at Indiana Hospital.
Mrs. Wilhelm moved to Hammond, LA to help care for her parents and worked at Lally Kemp Charity Hospital in Independence, LA from 1970 - 1974 when she retired and moved to Long Beach to live by her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Wilhelm, and 5 siblings, John C. Morrison, Earlma Decoteau, Daisy Bledsoe, Gus Morrison, and Lety Stratton.
Survivors include her daughter, Marsha McKlveen and her husband, Larry, 1 brother, Calvin Morrison, 1 sister, Catherine Lee, 2 grandchildren, Christopher McKlveen and his wife, Keeah, and Kevin McKlveen and his wife, Stacy, and 5 great-grandchildren, Kisa, Kody, Karissa, Abigail, and Andrew.
Private family services were held by RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Commission Road, Long Beach.
