Margie Woodard McCormick, age 82, of Long Beach, passed away on January 2, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth P. "Mc" McCormick, Sr.; her parents, James Arlie Woodard and Myrtle Beard Woodard; parents who raised her, Malcolm and Lucile Woodard Gavin; 2 brothers, Roscoe Woodard and Dick Woodard; and a sister, Minnie Ellen Maples (Darwin).
Survivors include her children, Patty Lincoln (Rodney) of Starkville, Cynthia Boyette (Dale) of Woolmarket, Susan McCormick, of Gulfport and Kenneth P. McCormick, Jr. (Terri) of Fairhope, AL; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lincoln True (Ben), Madisyn Lincoln, Jessica Boyette Moran (Mikey), Joshua Boyette, and Jaclyn Boyette; an expected great-grandchild; a sister, JoAnn Pipkins (Danny); a sister-in-law, Juana Fay Woodard; and other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Bexley community of George County and was Valedictorian of her graduating class of 1956 at Lucedale High School. She later graduated from MSCW with a degree in Business Education. She worked as a teacher in the Gulfport School District in the early 1960s and chose to stay home and raise her family before going back to work at USM Gulf Park. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Long Beach where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Friends of the Library Club. Mrs. McCormick enjoyed watching and participating in her grandchildren's activities. She was a loving and caring person who enjoyed doing for others. Her grace, strength, and infectious smile were an inspiration to everyone whom she encountered.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd, Long Beach. Service will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be private in Biloxi National Cemetery on Wednesday, January 6, 2021.
