Margie Ann Ellis McFarland

Margie Ann Ellis McFarland, age 70, of Gulfport, passed away on February 16, 2023.

Margie was born in Kosciusko to Robert “Buddy” and Lois Bounds Ellis.  She graduated from Holmes Junior College.  She worked in Meridian for Citizens Bank before moving to the Coast to in 1976 to take the role of Executive Director of the March of Dimes.  She has also worked for the American Heart Association and the Society for Retarded Citizens.  Margie started her real estate career 30 years ago and started McFarland Realty over 10 years ago.  Until her health prevented her from continuing, she was involved in many programs over the years, including professional associations and volunteering opportunities here locally, on the State level, and on the National level. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dixie Munday; and brother, Bobby Ellis.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, John C. McFarland; son, Christopher John McFarland; siblings, Betty Springer, Joy Oakes, and Sonny Ellis; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.  Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross, or the Southeast MS Chapter of the American Red Cross, 612 East Pass Road, Gulfport, MS 39507.
