Margene Morella

June 24, 1953 — April 13, 2019

Margene Frances Morella, age 65, of Gulfport, passed away peacefully at home on April 13, 2019 in Gulfport, MS.
Born in South Plainfield, New Jersey, on June 24, 1953, she was the daughter of Cono and Mary Ruth Morella Sr. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and South Plainfield High School graduating in 1971.  She enrolled in Muhlenberg Hospital Nursing School and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Ms. Morella spent more than 15 years in nursing before retiring due to health concerns. She lived in Gulfport for over 30 years where she raised 3 children and 3 grandchildren. She loved sports especially the Saints and LSU. She loved to cook and didn't know how to make a small meal. She was best known for her macaroni and gravy. She loved Bingo, the casinos, neighborhood gossip and most of all her Coke. Margene was a loving Mother, a devoted Nana, a cherished friend, sister, aunt, preschool teacher, nanny and "Aunt" Marge to many of her friends' children.
Mom was a very strong, independent and opiniated Italian woman.  She never held her tongue. She told you the truth, even when you didn't want to hear it.  She did whatever she could for her family and friends.  She was a Gold medalist grudge holder, but she did love her family more than anything.
Margene was preceded in death by her parents, Cono and Mary Ruth Morella Sr.; her brothers Salvatore Morella, Michael Morella, Larry Hawks and granddaughter, Carson Felts.
She is survived by her children; Christopher (Leslie) Felts, Paris, TX; Susan (Derek Bourgeois); Gulfport, MS and Amylynn Felts, Woolmarket, MS; grandchildren, Alex and Marissa Felts, Luke Michael Bourgeois, and Cayden Felts; and brother, Cono Morella Jr. of New Jersey.
A Celebration of Life Memorial and Potluck Reception will be held April 26, 2019 at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport, at 1:00pm. Interment will be at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield, New Jersey, at a later date, as Ms. Morella requested.
