Margaret Ladner, 75 of Saucier, MS was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, October 1, 2012, in Birmingham, AL at UAB Hospital after a long hard battle with advanced heart disease that she fought like a champ until the end. Her last 32 day journey was spent with her three children at her side.
Margaret was a loving Mother, Maw Maw, wife, daughter, sister and Aunt. Margaret was a lifetime member of Poplar Head Methodist Church in Saucier, where she played the piano from early age until retiring due to health reasons a few years earlier, a member of the UMW and served on various committees in the church. She was also a lifelong member of Palmer Creek Methodist Campground in Saucier, a member and past Matron of Perkinston Chapter 376 Eastern Star.
Margaret worked for Harrison County Head Start for many years, drove a school bus for Harrison County Schools in Saucier for 18 years, after retiring from driving the bus she became a Certified Nursing Assistant for 12 years, where she retired due to health reasons. Margaret also loved fishing, cutting her grass, which she did the week before her last journey started, and most of all spending time with her children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney R. Ladner, her parents, Jessie and Ruth Madden, and her sister Marie Leonard.
She leaves behind her three children; Susan Bankston (Karl Lyons), Terry (Becky) Ladner, Teresa (Don) Crosby all of Saucier, MS. Eight Grandchildren; Timmy Bankston, Rachel (Matt) Powell, Justin (Rachel) Ladner, Ashley (Darol) Holloway, Christopher Crosby, Chase Crosby, Courtney Crosby, and Camryn Crosby all of Saucier, six Great Grandchildren, that were the loves of her life and accompanied her on her last trip to the hospital the night she started her last 32 day journey; Mackenzie Powell, Mason Powell, Emma Bankston, Jace Herrin, Aden Herrin, Frank Ladner, one unborn Great Granddaughter, Maddison Ann Ladner, three special nieces Sonya Sharp, Melody Morgan , Patty Sellers and their families, as well as a host of other extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be her six Grandsons-Timmy Bankston, Matt Powell, Justin Ladner, Darol Holloway, Christopher Crosby, and Chase Crosby. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mason Powell, Jace Herrin, Aden Herrin, and Frank Ladner.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Shau in Gulfport, a very special thanks to the CICU Critical Care Nurses, Doctors and attendants at UAB in Birmingham for their compassion and helping us get through the last 17 days of our Mother's life. Also, a very special thank you to Dr. Chris Bellott, Critical Care Thoracic Surgeon and Certified Critical Nurse Practitioner T. L. in the CICU unit for doing everything possible to make our Mother's last days as comfortable as possible. They gave us strength and compassion to get through one of the hardest times of our lives, spent many hours hugging us, holding our hand and praying with us as if it was their own Mother. We will forever be grateful to them.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 6th, at Poplar Head Methodist Church, 13200 Poplar Head Road, Saucier, MS. Viewing 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM with service starting at 1:00 PM, interment will follow immediately in Poplar Head Cemetery.
