Born in Evergreen Park, Illinois on May 4, 1940 to mother Carmella De Lucia and father Thomas De Lucia as Margaret Ann De Lucia-Durkin, also known as Margaret Ann Janz, Margie, and affectionately known by close family and friends as ""Bubba."" Margaret passed quietly, at the age of 74, into God's graceful presence while she sat in her home in Diamondhead, Mississippi on Friday, February 27, 2015.
Margaret is the mother of daughter, Patricia of Diamondhead, MS, with whom she lived, daughter, Mary Margaret of Desert Hot Springs, CA, and son, David of Aurora, CO.
As a young single mother, Margaret worked diligently at Pacific Bell in Van Nuys, CA before meeting her life-long partner of 28-years, Jackie A. Tallo. Introduced to the Mississippi Gulf Coast by Jackie, Margaret fell in love with its tranquility and peaceful atmosphere. She and Jackie would ultimately call the Mississippi Gulf Coast, home. Starting her second career at K-mart in Waveland, MS, Margaret worked successfully to retirement in 2005, working for over 50 years.
Margaret's dedication to family and friends was unwavering, which is shown by her taking on of her beloved nickname, ""Bubba."" While most may think of ""Bubba"" as a burly male figure, she was much the opposite. Margaret took on the nickname after one of her grandchildren was unable to say her name, but would only mutter the name, ""Bubba."" Margaret took heart to the name and would be forever known by her grandchildren, family, and close friends by this name. As the protector of her family, Bubba instilled a sense of honor, dedication, and guardianship that would transcend the lives of her family and grandchildren. This shielding commitment will forever be a part of her legacy and will never be forgotten.
