Margaret Clark Buck

July 8, 1933 — November 28, 2024

Covington. LA

Margaret Joan Clark Buck looked forward to reaching heaven for 91 years, and made it there on November 28, just in time for Thanksgiving with her husband, Glenn, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William R. Clark (Mildred), her beloved twin sister, Marjorie Brown, and brother-in-law Paul Brown. Left behind to go on without her inspiring presence are her four children and their spouses: Thomas and Bridget Buck, Will and Susan Gunnels, William and Abby Buck and Kenneth and Jaime Buck. Margaret was blessed with eight grandchildren: Glenn, Shane, Benjamin, Annie, Jacob, Graham and Audrey Buck and Molly Gunnels.

Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Margaret met Glenn while they were students at LSU. After a few years in Metairie and Lafayette, they settled in New Orleans on the West Bank, and were devoted members of Woodland Presbyterian Church for 45 years. Margaret sang in the choir for decades, gave piano lessons at her home and traveled extensively with her friends and family. The yearly vacations in the pop-up camper were legendary. She never passed up a chance to sing, whether it was a hymn, something popular or the entire soundtrack to Oklahoma or Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. She was the first one to get up and dance, whether that was a jitterbug or a square dance, and she often pulled out the sofa bed so that everyone could stay up late and watch the Miss America pageant when her children were young.

Margaret loved the Lord and spent a great deal of energy and time bringing His promise of joy and salvation to others. After she moved to The Trace at Claiborne Hill in Covington, she and her friends kept up their Bible studies, supporting each other in their lives together. She enjoyed worshipping with New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Mandeville. She was certain in her faith and had a loving and determined spirit that showed itself through her words and her actions in a way that few people could match.

We give thanks for all the wonderful people at The Trace and Foundations Hospice, who went above and beyond to help Margaret and our family through the difficult last days. We are especially thankful for Bobbi, Anthony, Calekisha and Courtnee for their love and concern for Margaret’s well-being. We will always remember your kindness.

Margaret’s funeral will be Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, Mississippi, with visitation at 10:00 AM and a service at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will be held at Floral Hills Cemetery.
