CPO Manuel Rodin Bactad, U.S. Navy, Retired, age 66, of Long Beach, passed away on November 19, 2011.
He was a native of the Philippines and later retired from the U.S. Navy. He later completed nursing school and worked at the South MS Regional Center until his retirement. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. Mr. Bactad enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing mahjong, and watching Saints football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Paz Bactad, and a sister.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Mari Bactad, his children, Anthony (Sarah) Bactad, Ashley (Ben) Pounds, and Tamara (Seth) Vincent, and an expected grandchild, Lily Marie Vincent, and numerous friends and relatives.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 - 8 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Wednesday at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 720 East Beach Blvd., Long Beach. Friends may visit at the church from 10 - 11 am.
Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
