Mrs. Mamie E. Guagliardo, age 86, resident of Gulfport, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2010.
Mrs. Guagliardo was born in Leakesville, MS to Charlie and Eliza Harris Hosford. After graduating from cosmetology school, she became a beautician. She spent 15 years working for Mac Smith Garment Factory, and until one week ago, she was still working as a state award winning beautician, part-time. She loved to spend time painting and gardening in her yard. She spent hours creating beautiful flower beds. Her family was most important in her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Sylvestre Soverio """"Piggy"""" Guagliardo; son, Stanley Biser; siblings, Daisy Taylor Parnell, Charles William Hosford, Samuel Henry Hosford, Nena Elena Parnell, and Johney Farrell Hosford; grandchildren, Kevin Paul Simmons and Melvin Glen Simmons.
She is survived by her children, Elaine Virginia Simmons of Gulfport and her husband Kenneth R., Janet Carolyn Wallis of Terra Alta, WV and her husband Harry, Marshall Biser of Seattle, WA; sister, Lizzie Maybelle Brewer of Gulfport; grandchildren, Kenneth R. Simmons, Jr. and his wife Sherrry, Curtis Wayne Simmons and his wife Tina, Stephen Guyler Simmons and his wife Vicki, Trevor Howard Simmons, James Virgil Farmer, III, Janet Carolyn Martin, Jeffrey Andrew Farmer, Penni Denise Nichols-Venable, Erin Biser, and Megan Biser; 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, where friends may call from 12:30 - 2 p.m. Services will be held immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
