Madelyn McWilliams

September 14, 2002 — February 25, 2021

Gulfport

Madelyn "Maddy" Michelle McWilliams, 18, of Gulfport, MS ran into the arms of Jesus on February 25, 2021 at University Hospital Burn Center, Mobile, Alabama, from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Madelyn was born September 14, 2002 to Erica Sloan and Donnie McWilliams in Columbia, South Carolina. Madelyn was a young girl with wild dreams. She enjoyed making creative artwork and spending time with close friends and family. Madelyn was a fighter. She was never one to quit. When knocked down, she got back up. Madelyn was a strong inspiration to her two little sisters. She enjoyed spending time with her GAGA, and they found themselves being the best of friends. Madelyn loved baking, you knew Madelyn was around when the house smelled like sweet desserts. She loved animals- dogs in particular. She had many furry animals throughout her short lifetime. She especially shared a strong bond with Goober and Jizzy. Madelyn loved doing hair and makeup. Though Madelyn didn't know what she wanted to be just yet, she had dreams of being a hairstylist, a makeup artist or even an operating room tech. Her options were not limited because of the intelligence she encountered. Madelyn was smart, kind and caring. She had the type of personality everyone needed in their life.

Madelyn is preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Sue Sloan and Ron Newton.

Left to cherish her memory is her mom, Erica Sloan Barber; her dad, Donnie McWilliams; her two sisters, Madesyn and Brooklyn Warfield; grandparents, Ginger Dauenhauer, Dan and Stacy Sloan, Josephine Harper and Kenneth McWilliams; and her great-grandparents, James Sloan and Virginia Smart. Madelyn was loved dearly by her many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of Madelyn's life will be held, Friday, March 5, 2021 at Waycross Baptist Church, Pelzer, South Carolina. The family will accept friends from 1-2:30 with service at 2:30 pm. Pastor Gene Emswiler and Pastor Dickie McCuen officiating.
