Madeline Carol Gilmore, age 76, passed away peacefully at her home on June 14, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Carol was born in Gulfport, MS and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Angelo Donald.  She was a graduate of Harrison Central High School and The University of Southern Mississippi where she earned a BS in Business Education. Carol worked in the Harrison County School District teaching for over 25 years.  She enjoyed playing the piano, traveling with her husband, being a part of her church family, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Carol was a faithful and active member of New Hope Baptist Church where she was the instrumentalist for over 50 years.
Carol would light up a room with her presence and she was a blessing to so many. She had the ability to influence others with her honesty and compassion, and had such a loving and precious soul. She had a very special connection with each of her children and grandchildren and a part of her will live on through them and everyone "MIMI" touched.
Carol was preceded in death by her father and mother, Angelo and Hazel Donald; the father of her children, Arlan Scarbrough; their daughter, Angela Carol Breland; her brother Wayne Donald, and her loving husband, William Edgar Gilmore, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Left to cherish her precious memory are her brother, Joe Donald (Lynn); her children, Richard Scarbrough (Maria), Arlene O'Neal, and Janene King (Chris); her 10 grandchildren, Andrew and Adam Breland, Joshua and Victoria Scarbrough, Chase and Holden O'Neal, Hali and Lexi James, and Cameron and Cierra King; her 7 great grandchildren, Ava and Hunter Seymour, Graysen Martino, Kaysen and Layten Breland, and Pierce and Charlie O'Neal; as well as her nieces, nephews and her cousin who is like a sister, Faye Povero.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to your favorite charity or to Gideons International. The family would like to express much gratitude to the staff of Memorial Hospital and Lakeview Rehabilitation Center.
The funeral service will be held at New Hope Baptist Church, 17430 Landon Road, Gulfport, MS on Sunday, June 17 at 3:00 PM with a visitation for family and friends beginning at 1:00 PM until service time. Burial will be held at Floral Hills Cemetery located at 80910 Carl Legett Road, Gulfport.
