Mack Hugh "Tiger Bill" Herrington

Mack ""Tiger Bill"" Hugh Herrington, Jr., age 83 years old, of Gulfport, passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2011, due to renal failure.
He was born in Pontotoc County, MS, on February 12, 1928, to his now deceased parents, Mack Hugh & Virginia Alice (Murphy) Herrington.
Tiger attended Mississippi City Elementary School and was a graduate of Gulfport High. In 1945, Tiger joined the Navy and served until 1949, earning the World War II Victory Medal. Upon his return, he studied Mechanical Engineering at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, where he met his late wife, Myriam Jesus Caballero, who he married on March 1, 1953.
Until 1959, Mack worked as an electronic technician for Pecoul's, after which he went to work in Keesler Air Force Base's 3880th Avionics Maintenance Squadron from which he retired after 30 years of service.
Tiger Bill was a big outdoorsman enjoying hunting with his beagles, fishing, and floundering. He also had many hobbies, such as, sling shots, bow and arrows, chopping wood, cutting grass, and he was a long standing member of the American Racing Pigeon Union winning numerous races in association with his longtime friend, Louis Joseph ""Jojo"" Pecoul.
Mack was preceded in death by his only brother, Murphy Isom Herrington. Survivors include his long time companion, Shirley Johnson; stepchildren, Lucia Munguia of New York City, NY, Ralph (& JoAnn) Munghia of Saucier; his daughter, Norma Herrington (& Derrick Charbonnet) of Ocean Springs; his grandchildren, Donny Bell, Theresa Bell, David Munghia, Will Charbonnet, and Adriana Charbonnet; and his life long friends, Nick & Lauren Christovich of Gulfport.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011, from 1pm to 3pm, followed by a short religious service, at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport. A private family interment will be held at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Gulfport, on Monday, February 28, 2011.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Home Instead Senior Care, Odyssey Hospice, and the 4th & 5th floor care staff at Gulfport Memorial Hospital.
