Lysle. Roberts Sr., a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 7, 2025, in Carrire, Mississippi. Born on March 5, 1946, in Ponka City, Oklahoma, Lysle lived a life full of service, adventure, and community.
Lysle dedicated many years of his career to Puckett Machinery, where he began as a diesel mechanic and worked diligently in the field before earning a promotion to service manager. His expertise and hardworking nature left a lasting impression on his colleagues and clients alike, demonstrating a true talent and undeniable work ethic.
A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, Lysle served in the United States Navy, carrying a deep sense of patriotism throughout his life. His love for his country was displayed in his home, where he flew the American flag with pride.
After his retirement, Lysle found joy in running a successful lawn care business, using it as a means to stay active and engaged. On days when cutting the grass wasn't possible due to the weather, he loved riding his lawnmower around the neighborhood to visit his wonderful neighbors. These are the same neighbors that so lovingly helped keep on eye on him after he became ill, offering many meals and companionship.
Throughout his life, Lysle had many passions that defined his adventurous spirit. He cherished the days spent racing at the Gulfport drag strip in his younger years and created unforgettable memories fishing with family and friends, particularly relishing in the thrill of catching speckled trout. He was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast, riding his beloved Harley Davidson and being an active member of a riding club. He proudly participated in charity rides such as Toys for Tots and rode alongside the Patriot Guard, embodying the spirit of camaraderie and support for his fellow service members.
Lysle’s legacy lives on through his cherished family. He is survived by his children, Tommy (Crystal) Roberts Jr., Rebecca (Brian) Roberts Fithian, and Matthew (Brandi) Roberts, who carry forward his values and love. He is survived by one brother Glenn (Bridget) Roberts. He had several grandchildren Alex Saujon, Katie Jernigan, Zoe Roberts, Lexi Brooks, Aaron Holliman, Brandon Holliman, Connor Holiman, and Ellis Roberts who will all miss him greatly. Lysle was also a great-grandfather to Sylas Smith, Stormy Smith, Sofia Jernigan, Jax Jernigan, and Koleson Warden.
Lysle reunites now with his beloved parents, Thomas Roberts and Bernice Powelson Roberts. As we remember him, we hold on to memories of his fierce love of his family. He was a man of mostly hidden emotions but if you were lucky enough to see the soft side it meant that you were loved deeply. May his spirit continue to inspire, and his legacy remind us of the importance of living life to the fullest.
