Mrs. Lydia M. Brown passed away at her home at the age of 94. She was born on March 7, 1920 to Allen and Callie McGill. She went to be with the Lord on March 3, 2015.
Our mom and dad had many achievements during their lives. They were the owners of the Dixie Lunchroom in the early 1940's. They also owned the Westside Grocery by the old Gulfport High School on 15th Street. Mom was a sleever for Mac Smith Garment Factory on 28th Street. They also owned Brownville Cabinet Company on 20th Avenue. In addition to that she raised her four children with grace and dignity and gave us so much love and encouragement. She tried to instill honesty and integrity in her children and she was always our rock and driving force. She will be missed by everyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William ""Bill"" Merrill Brown, Sr.; her parents, Allen and Callie McGill; her grandsons, Timothy Allard and Andrew Kahler; her sister, Inez Russell; her niece, Diane McGill and numerous aunts and uncles.
