Lucy Weston Lacoste, wife of the late Paul V. Lacoste, Sr. passed away peacefully on July 16, 2009 surrounded lovingly by her family. Born in 1923 in Logtown MS to Harold and Susie (Briggs) Weston, she grew up in Bay St. Louis and graduated from Sullins College, Bristol VA. Lucy and Paul Lacoste married in New York City in 1945 during World War II. They made their home in Jackson MS where her greatest joy was championing the projects of her husband and five children. For the past three years she has been making her home with her daughter, Dr. Estelle Robinson, in Gulfport and then in Diamondhead MS.
In addition to Dr. Robinson, Mrs. Lacoste is survived by her eldest daughter, Lucy Lacoste, and her husband, Anthony Munroe, of Stow MA; her son, Robert Louis Lacoste and his wife Ashley, and their daughters Emily, Anna and Mary Grace. She is predeceased by her son Paul V. Lacoste, Jr., and daughter Ann Lacoste Minor, whose children Wilson, Henry and Paul also survive. In addition, Mrs. Lacoste had the love of AnnaÌ‚â‚â„¢s husband Doug Minor and his wife Debbie. Her sister Ann Weston Porter survives her and her brother John Weston predeceases her. Special thanks go to her caregiver Isabella Scott.
Lucy Lacoste was known for her eternal optimism and positive spirit. As her daughter Estelle says: 'it could be said by many """"she is the wind beneath my wings""""'.
Remembrances may be made in her name to the Boy Scouts of America, in honor of her son Paul and the French Department of Jackson Prep, Jackson, MS, in honor of her daughter Ann.
Funeral services will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, Jackson, MS on Saturday, July 18, 2009, starting with visitation at 1:00 PM, followed by a celebration of her life at 2:30 PM. Interment will be on Sunday, July 19, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Bay St. Louis, MS.
