Lt. Jeffrey Alan Necaise, age 56 of Gulfport, passed away on September 14, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Gene Necaise Sr.; his mother, Elaine Necaise; and his brothers, Roy Gene Necaise, Jr., John Necaise, and Steven Necaise.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Cassie Necaise; his children, Jeffrey Necaise II(Jillian) of Pass Christian, Christopher Necaise (Heather) of Long Beach, Austin Necaise (Bailey), Hunter Johnson, and Logan Necaise all of Gulfport; grandchildren, Aubree Necaise, Autumn Necaise, and another one on the way in December.
He was a born and raised in Gulfport, MS, where he started his career in law enforcement with the Harrison County Jail. He also went to the police academy and then started at Long Beach Police Department as a Reserve Officer, where he worked his way up to Chief of Reserves. Jeff later started working at Gulfport Police Department in many divisions during his 25 years there. He started as an Animal Control Officer, where he helped update the animal control ordinances that are still in effect for the city. Soon after, he was sworn in as a Police Officer in the Patrol Division, transferred to the Community Relations Division as a School Resource K9 Officer, became a Sergeant on Patrol, and then transferred to Sergeant over the Warrants Division. After being promoted to Lieutenant, Jeff was assigned as the OIC over the Crime Scene Division. He was sent to the National Forensic Academy at the University of Tennessee from which he received the training to make the Gulfport Crime Scene Unit one of the most requested units on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
After retiring with over 25 years in law enforcement, Jeff’s need to help others led him to Southern Lawn Equipment where his keen knowledge of small engines allowed him to fulfill that need. He could repair or build just about anything you could ask for and had just begun repairing a family antique vehicle. He would rather be outside in the fresh air than be cooped up any day.
Above all, Jeff loved being with family. That was his happy place.
The family extends their sincerest thanks to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Deputies, and especially Deputy Shane Robinson, Harrison County Fire and Rescue, and especially Michael “Moose” Groce, AMR, and Singing River Gulfport ER Department and ICU Staff.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Jeff’s honor mailed to: GCOPS (Gulfport Community Organizing Police Support), PO Box 1269, Gulfport, MS 39502 .
The funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, with a visitation from 4:00 PM until the service. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home.
