Louise ""Weezie"" Milner Anderson, age 81, resident of Gulfport was born on October 5, 1929 and passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010 in Gulfport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake (Tillie) Milner, and sisters, Ida Marie Price and Tappy Shelton.
Weezie is survived by husband of 59 years Roy Anderson, Jr.; daughter, Jamie Van Kirk (Will); sons, Dr. Jeff Anderson (Lynn) and Roy Anderson, III (Sandi); grandchildren, Kristen Van Kirk Gard (Bo), Weezie Van Kirk Higginbothom (West), William Van Kirk, Kennedy Anderson, Dabbs Anderson, Courtney Anderson, Annie Anderson Mahoney (Daniel), Roy Anderson, IV; and great-grandson, West Higginbothom, III.
Weezie graduated from Gulfport High School in 1947 and she was an avid tennis player in high school, winning two State singles championships. She graduated from Mississippi College for Women and the University of Southern Mississippi, where she was a member and President of Chi Omega Sorority.
The University of Southern Mississippi Chi Omega Chapter Room is named in her honor. She and her husband, Roy, endowed a chair at the Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY. She was a member of the Memorial Hospital of Gulfport Foundation Board, Alzheimer Board, Gulf Coast Community Foundation Board, and the Salvation Army Board.
Weezie was a Charter Member of Trinity United Methodist Church, President and Treasurer of Trinity United Methodist Women, and Chairman of the Trinity United Methodist Church Worship Committee.
She was President of the Gulf Coast Chapter of Chi Omega, Queen of Merry Maskers in 1995, and an Officer in various other civic and carnival organizations.
Weezie was also a member of the Gulfport Century Club, Windance Golf & Country Club, Great Southern Golf Club, Gulfport Yacht Club, Bayou Bluff Tennis Club, Great Southern Club, Revelers Carnival Assn, Country Club of the Rockies, Edwards, Colorado, and Alpine Club, Edwards, Colorado.
Her proudest achievement was her 59-year marriage to Roy, 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson.
The Family would like to thank Dr. Allison Wall and Dr. Fred Pakron and their staffs for the special care and concern during her illness. The family wishes to express a special thanks for the kindness and comfort of a special friend, Pam Bentz.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, October 22, 2010 at Noon at Trinity United Methodist Church, Gulfport. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30AM to Noon. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport.
