Lou Sinquefield, 78 of Perkinston, MS passed away peacefully in his home on April 18, 2025, with Tamara “Tammie” Sinquefield, his wife of 58 years, by his side.
Born in Pineville, LA, to Ford and Lois Sinquefield. Lou enlisted in the US Navy, proudly serving his country on the USS Kearsarge. Lou and Tamara married on January 28th 1967 in Norwalk, CA. They later moved to and settled in LaPlace, Louisiana which would become home, raising their three children, Michael (56), Melinda (52) and Melissa (52). Lou had a long career at Shell Oil Company in Norco, LA, but his work’s passion was serving the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union, Local 4-750 as vice president and president; advocating for his employees. In retirement, Lou and Tammie moved to White Cypress Lakes in Perkinston, MS where he enjoyed being on the water, feeding birds and the friendship good neighbors.
Lou was proceeded in death by his father, Ford Sinquefield; mother Lois Gibbons; step-father, Les Gibbons; his treasured puppies, Pancho and Lefty.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Tamara “Tammie” Sinquefield; sister, Charlotte Bruce (Ed) of Houston, TX; 3 children - son Michael Sinquefield (Alisa) of Burleson, TX, daughter, Melinda Bourge (Duane) of Westwego, LA, daughter, Melissa Sinquefield (BJ) of Marrero, LA.
His greatest joy was being Pawpaw, survived by his 7 grandchildren, Nicholas Delaneuville (Allison), Madison Cannella (Enrico), Matthew and Domenick Giardino, Kaleb, Levi and Sofie Grace Sinquefield; and his dog Punkin.
Serving his country in the US Navy of one of his proudest achievements, choosing to be laid to rest in Biloxi National Cemetery on Friday, April 25th, following services at Riemann Family Funeral Home in Pass Christian, MS. Visitation is scheduled for 11:00 am, Funeral service at 12:30 pm followed by procession to Biloxi National Cemetery for Burial at 2:30.
The family would like to express our fondest gratitude to all at the VA Medical Center in Biloxi and the staff of Gentiva for their care of Lou in his final months.
