Louis W."Pawpaw Lou" Moore, age 72, of Gulfport, MS, went home on December 4, 2018.
Lou was preceded in death by his parents, Lionel Eugene and Emma (Bortell) Moore; his siblings, Leonard Moore, Charles Moore, Phyllis (Moore) Sawyer, Ed Moore, Andrew Moore, James Moore, Rose (Moore) Rose, Bette (Moore) Dahlegren, and John Moore, all of New York.
Lou is survived by his sister Cathi Hulett (Eugene) of Loudonville, NY; his son, Steven Moore of Gulfport; longtime friend and partner of 24 years, June Wesson of Gulfport; step children, Melanie Gagnon(Brian)   of Gulfport and Benjamin Fowler Sr. of Gulfport; his grandchildren, Connor Moore, Benjamin "Bubba" Fowler, Jr., Karie Brianne Fowler, and Leesa Gagnon all of Gulfport; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Lou was born in Albany, NY, then moved to the coast in the 1970's.  He worked at Memorial Hospital and later at Garden Park Hospital with Dr. Lance Johansen, as an orthopedic surgical tech until his retirement in 2018.  Lou was active in youth sports for over forty years, serving in many different capacities with the Orange Grove Youth Association.  He gave his heart and time to many generations on and off the baseball field.  Lou believed that no kid should be left behind and that life lessons started on the baseball field.  Over the years, Lou made many friends in both his career and on the field.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 15, 2018, at the Orange Grove baseball fields in Gulfport, MS.  Pawpaw asked that you celebrate his life with one last ball game.  Please wear your favorite team jersey or shirt to celebrate his life and commitment to youth sports, as we throw out the last pitch and call ball game on a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers,  the family asks that donations be made to the Orange Grove Youth Association to benefit Orange Grove Baseball.  The donations can be made at any First Bank, under The Orange Grove Youth Association of Gulfport, MS, or mailed to The Orange Grove Youth Association at P.O. Box 3018, Gulfport, MS 39505.
