Mr. Louis S. Mathes, age 86, resident of Picayune, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2009.
Mr. Mathes was born in Jackson, MS and was a Chemical Engineer. He served in the United States Air Force during WWII. He was a very intelligent person and enjoyed reading and gardening. He was married to the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth, for 50 years before her death in 2000.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents, Louis and Bessie Mathes.
He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Gac of Gulfport; grandchildren, Candace Webb and her husband Paul of Wiggins, Elizabeth Welch and her husband Billy of Gulfport, and John Gac of Gulfport; great grandchildren, Shane Webb, Trae and Megan Welch, and Steven Gac.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at 2 p.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, where friends may visit one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Long Beach City Cemetery.
