Louis Michael Bodisch, age 90, of Gulfport, died on Monday, May 25, 2009 at Canon Hospice in Gulfport.
Mr. Bodisch was born in Cleveland, OH in 1918, the son of John J. Bodisch and Julianna Schuster Bodisch, immigrants from Hungary. He was raised in North Mississippi and joined the Civilian Conservation Corps when he was 16 and then the U.S. Navy in 1936. Mr. Bodisch served gallantly during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict.
Mr. Bodisch was a long time resident of Gulfport where he settled after retiring from the Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer with 27 years of service. He then worked for the Naval Construction Battalion Center and the United States Naval Home in Gulfport. Mr. Bodisch touched many lives and had a positive impact on many wherever he went.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Orena Marie DuVerger Bodisch; two daughters, Marie J. A. Coyle of Dayton, OH, and Donna L. Moore of Gulfport; a brother, John Bodisch of Seattle, WA and two sisters, Mary Daniels and Ethel Tereba of Geneva, OH.
He is survived by his son, Michael Bodisch of Richton, daughter, Julianna McRae of Gulfport, a brother, Arpod Bodisch, who resides at the Veteran's Home in Collins and a sister, Ruby Boomhower of Geneva, OH. He had nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren, who all mourn his passing.
Mr. Bodisch will be interred at the National Cemetery in Biloxi on Friday May 29, 2009, at 2:30 p.m., with his wife.
