Lou Anne Smith, age 107 of Long Beach, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022.
She was a native of Gulfport and worked as a cashier for Brumfield’s Department Store for 20 plus years.
Lou Anne was preceded in death by her father, Parmer N. Smith; her mother, Ruby L. Pully; her daughter, Kathryn V. Scott; her son, James K. Smith; her granddaughter, Ruby A. Smith; and her great granddaughters, Marie E. Sheehan and Sara Abell.
She is survived by her daughter, Ruby Dale Bassett (Charles); her son-in-law, David Moreland; her brother, Robert E. Smith (Yvonne); her grandchildren, Donald E. Smith (Amy), Laura E. Sheehan (Tommy), Christian Moreland, and Jamie Smith; her great grandchildren, Nicholas Smith (Sara), Brandon Smith (Rebecca), Megan Kidwell (Kevin), James Sheehan, Jesse Abell, Ryan Abell, Laura Abell, and Brittney Moreland; her great-great grandchildren, Brayden Smith, Emma Smith, Nora Smith, Olivia Smith, Wesley Smith, and Porter Smith; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Lou Anne was a member of St. John Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and watching the Saints.
A special thanks to her physician of 30 years, Dr. Tamboli, who became a lifelong friend. Thanks to Southern Care Hospice, especially Chris, Liz, Cammie, Jamie and Tiffany, Lake View Nursing Center for the care provided, and to Kare-In-Home during her final hours. A special thanks to Kathleen Duden Bostel for sharing many years of support and love to “Mimi.”
Lou Anne’s favorite quote was, “I am the old gal with a proud past and a shining future. My motto has always been, I can and I will.”
A private family memorial will follow at a later date.
